Sustainability Blueprint

Sustainable Living Strategy

Throughout our journey, SMU has stepped up to contribute its teaching and resources, and other resources to address complex problems of sustainabilty faced by the community and the world at large. In 2014, we unveiled our Vision 2025 with an aspiration to become a world-renowned global city University, tackling the world's complexities and impacting humanity positively. The SMU 2025 Strategy was introduced in 2020 as a framework to carry through the Vision, identifying 3 key areas of focus, with Sustainable Living as one of them.

We launched our Sustainability Blueprint, the result of a year-long review by the SMU Sustainability Taskforce, in 2022. The Sustainability Blueprint guides how we work, learn and play, providing a pathway to a more sustainable future that is informed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Take a look at the progress we have made across each of the four pillars of our Sustainability Blueprint below, or view annual snapshots of our sustainability efforts and achievements in our annual sustainability reporting.

Alignment to national and international sustainability agendas

Our sustainability strategies align with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, contributing our expertise to the advancement of Singapore's national agenda on sustainable development. At the international level, we are also committed to supporting progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
