Programmes
Our sustainability focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes enable students to gain advanced mastery of sustainability issues.
Sustainability Management Second Major
The Sustainability Management Second Major gives students a broad foundation for understanding how businesses and other organisations can tackle multidimensional real-world problems and positively impact on social and environmental dimensions through their operations. This interdisciplinary major develops a basic understanding of issues such as climate change, marine pollution, the depletion of natural resources, and poverty.
Sustainable Societies Second Major
Inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Sustainable Societies Second Major instills an appreciation and sense of urgency about the complexities, trade-offs, and synergies that sustainability presents for the people and the planet that we inhabit. The major’s three main pillars – environment, society and the economy – mirror the realities and challenges of sustainable development of today and the future.
Sustainable Futures Programme
Sustainable Futures will join Asian Insights as the second track of SMU’s Global Summer Programme (GSP) and aims to equip future leaders with a deep and holistic understanding of sustainability issues impacting business and society. 4 sustainability focused courses are offered, covering resource circularity, urban resilience, sustainability reporting, and sustainable development.
Master of Sustainability
The Master of Sustainability programme delivers an inter-disciplinary curriculum, drawing on the breadth of domains across SMU schools to prepare students for current and future jobs in the green economy. Through the programme, students will engage in learning about the sustainable use of organisational and natural resources in service of socially equitable outcomes through an emphasis on essential core skills in sustainability reasoning, communication, coordination, and management.
